Lotus Foods Celtic Sea Salt is hand harvested from the coastal area of Gurande, Brittany, in France. This salt is “moist” and unrefined, and hand harvested in late summer by salt farmers. Celtic sea salt differs from regular sea salt and table salt in that it is naturally sun dried and retains the oceans moisture which contains the beneficial trace minerals and nutrients of the ocean with high amounts of potassium and magnesium. Regular Table salt is Sodium Chloride and is approximately 40% sodium and 60% chloride. Celtic Sea Salt is 20% lower in sodium with approx. 32% Sodium, and 51% Chloride, however as it contains 7% water, you also get important trace minerals including 0.5% Magnesium, 0.38% Iron, 0.26% potassium, Calcium, Manganese and Silicon.
